The school office will be open 8:00-3:00 through June 13. The office will re-open on August 1, 8:00-3:00. There will be someone in the office for the six weeks between, but not on a regular basis. Please feel free to phone the school office (484-3392) and leave a message or send an email message to the above address. We will be checking phone and email messages as well as postal mail on a regular basis and will get back to you as soon as possible. For an immediate concert, the parish office (482-2186) can be phoned and Mr. Sordelet or Sr. Genevieve will be contacted.

ST. CHARLES NEW UNIFORM ORDERS

Parents who wish to purchase new uniforms may do so in several different ways. School eLeMeNTs was at school in the Parish Hall during the used uniform sale to measure students for skirts and jumpers as well as slacks and shirts. You are also able to order the NEWLY APPROVED ST. CHARLES FLEECE. Orders may be placed at this time. You may also visit their website at www.schoolelements.com for information.
Uniform clothing is also available for purchase through these company websites: Lands’ End, www.landsend.com/school (St. Charles School Code 9000-3045-3); Schoolbelles School Uniforms, www.schoolbelles.com; and School Choice Uniforms, www.choiceuniforms.com.
Uniform clothing may also be purchased at local clothing stores (Target, Sears, J. C. Penney, to name a few), but please abide by the school dress code when purchasing uniform clothing.

ST. CHARLES USED UNIFORM SALE

The annual St. Charles Used Uniform Sale was held in the Parish Hall. After the sale, items not sold were donated to St. Pat’s. Your money envelopes may be picked up in the school office. Questions...call Lori Stock at 627-0170 or 341-4113.

LIBRARY NEWS

The school library will be open this summer on three Wednesday mornings. The dates are June 18th, July 9th, and July 23rd. The time for all dates is 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. Current students in kindergarten through grade 7 may check out books. Students going into grades 2 through 8 will also be able to take Accelerated Reader tests. Students who take tests this summer will be ahead when school starts in August. For third grade through eighth grade, AR points count as part of their reading grade. The points earned over the summer count for the first quarter of 2008 school year.
Students may read any AR books from home, any branch of the Allen County library, or our library. The reading level can be one grade level below their grade level. The exception is that seventh graders and eighth graders may still read any reading level book as long as the point value is 5 or higher.
St. Charles Accelerated Reading Test List is available online. As a reminder, the web site is: http://www.stcfw.org/school--go to links at the top--one of the links is Accelerated Reader--click on Accelerated Reader and you will have the list of tests. The first numbers are the test number (you don’t need to know that). The titles are in alphabetical order, with the reading level and the point value. There is also a binder at the Georgetown Library that has St. Charles Accelerated Reader books listed by title, author, and reading level. This binder has been updated, so all tests we have are listed. The only place students can take tests are at the St. Charles Library. We purchase each test and they are available on our computers only.

TEACHER VOLUNTEERS AVAILABLE

Teacher volunteers will be available during summer library hours offering tutorial help for any students who may have a need. They will especially assist students with their summer math or language arts packets.
Enter door #13 (corner parking lot) at times the library is open as noted above. There are also some evening hours at which teachers will be available at the “orange” tables near the computer lab. Please enter the school at door #15 (near bike racks) on these evenings: June 23 6:30-7:30 PM and July 16 6:30-7:30 PM.

SUMMER ATHLETICS

The St. Charles Athletics Website (www.highschoolsports.net) is where to this summer to find information pertaining to fall sports practices and contacting coaches. Under “Pick My School”, select “Indiana”, then “St. Charles Borromeo School - Fort Wayne”. From the website check the Announcements link under The Chalkboard section. Fall practices will begin in August. The parish bulletin will also be used to announce the tryout schedules.
Should any other sports programs be made available over the summer they will also be announced on this website.

*Summer hours - Friday sales in the Hession Center will continue during the summer, however, summer hours change to 8:30-9:30 am June 6 thru Aug. 15. Weekend sales also continue on Saturday evenings after the 5 pm Mass and on Sunday mornings from 10-11 am.
*Summer Vacations - Remember to make SCRIP part of your summer vacation plans. We carry Marriot, Choice, and Best Western hotels, gas cards, Budget Rental cars, and American Airlines. Most of these require special ordering so a little extra planning is necessary to be sure they are available when you need them. Other travel items are available, check out glscrip.com, click on “Retailers List”, and scroll to “Travel” for a complete listing. Check with the coordinators for details.
*Stay Informed - Be sure and read the SCRIP news in the bulletin each week for updates on new merchants and new promotions. This summer we will start a monthly SCRIP newsletter. These will be available at the sales tables and on the “Progress Board” in the back of church.

MARKET DAY

For the June sale, Market Day is promoting a FREE apple pie with the purchase of any 3 items listed on the front page . Won't that be nice to have an easy dessert this summer? Your order is important to us, so please place an order today and stock up for summer, Market Day has many easy quick fixes and great things to put on the grill.  Check it out at www.marketday.com. The deadline will be June 5th for the internet orders, or just give me a call and I will put your order in!!
We will also be having a July sale. The sale will be July 15 from 6-7pm.  If you need to stock up one last time for the summer this will be a great opportunity.
