Reading over the Summer:

Over the summer we are encouraging our students to read on a weekly basis. We are providing guidelines and suggestions for reading. Click here for a Summer Reading Log to record their reading times.

Weekly Minimum Requirements In Minutes

8th grade: 120 minutes (2 hrs.) per week
7th grade: 120 minutes (2 hrs.) per week
6th grade: 90 minutes (1 1/2 hrs.) per week
5th grade: 80 minutes per week
4th grade: 70 minutes per week
3rd grade: 60 minutes per week
2nd grade: 50 minutes per week
1st grade: 40 minutes per week
kindergarten: 30 minutes per week
Examples of types of materials

Suggestions for reading material: novels, magazines, newspapers,comic books, graphic novels, story books, reading along w/books on tape, digests, journals, encyclopedias, and other.


Written Consent for Administration of Medication: In order for the school nurse, volunteer school nurse, or a staff member to administer medication to your stsudent this form must be read and signed.

Accelerated Reader:
This is a list of all tests that can be taken here at St, Charles. The books are listed in order by reading level. We have most of these books in our school library, but you may also find them at the public librarys, at home or buy them. Whenver new tests are purchased, we will update the list. This link for Accelerated Reader will take you to the list. The library will be open during the summer on the following Wednesday's from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM (June 30th, July 14th and July 28th) for student to take Accelerated Reader Tests and check out books.
